Itinerary

Day 1

Airport > Negombo (15 KMS and approximately 30 Minutes Journey)

Arrival at Colombo, Bandaranayke International Airport,On arrival greeting and welcome with garlands by representative of Adventure De Ceylon.
Proceed to Negombo & Check into Hotel. Relax at the beach or by the pool. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 2

Negombo > Anuradhapura > Dambulla (225 KMS and approximately 4 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Anuradhapura to Visit the archeological sites in Anuradhapura.
Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well – preserved ruins of ancient Lankan civilization. The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies 205 km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malvathu Oya. From the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world, is today surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²).

Return to Dambulla & Check in to hotel for Overnight.
Day 03

Dambulla > Sigiriya > Polonnaruwa > Minneriya > Dambulla (80 KMS and approximately 2 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Visit Sigiriya Rock fortress Sigiriya, a massive rock in the green scrub jungle, is perhaps the most memorable place for visitors to Sri Lanka. The site was known from ancient times as a hermitage for Buddhist monks. A well – planed monastic complex included caved temples, bathing pools, lovely ponds and Asia’s oldest surviving landscaped gardens. Today Sigiriya is famous for its frescoes painted in the pocket of the rock. The “Lion stairway”, the “mirror wall” and the “water gardens” are it’s other highlights.

Continue to Polonnaruwa Do a city tour of Polonnaruwa (2h30 visit). Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka in 11th and 12th centuries AD which too a world heritage site. You will see here famous the Gal Viharaya where four splendid statues of Lord Buddha are to be found.

Proceed to Minneriya and do a safari of the Minneriya National Park by jeep 4 x 4. The extent of the Minneriya National Park is about 8,889 hectares. There are wet – lands in this National Park, which have international importance, animal and plant species, which are plenty in dry zone, are found in this park. Wild elephants, various amphibians, local and immigrant bird species are plenty in this park.

Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the Hotel
Day 04

Dambulla > Matale > Kandy (80 KMS and approximately 3 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Dambulla, Visit the Dambulla Rock temple where you will climb the rock. (1h30 visit) This temple was donated by King Walagambahu in the first century BC to monks . This is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples, is a complex of five caves with over 2000sq meters of paintings and these caves contains over 150 images

Proceed to Matale

Spice Gardens – visit a spice garden to see the different spices that Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.

Continue to Kandy. Arrive & Check in to Hotel.

The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1806, visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts center and a gem museum and lapidary. The evening is the best time to visit the temple of the tooth relic and thereafter witness a traditional cultural dance show.

Day 05

Kandy > Pinnawela > Kandy (80 KMS and approximately 2 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Pinnawela. Visit the Pinnawela elephant orphanage en route.

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – is a home for about 60 elephants (out of which around 50 are baby elephants) found abandoned or orphaned in the wild, They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authority. The best time for your visit is at 9 in the morning, when you will have the opportunity of seeing these ‘babes’ being bottle – fed. You could also see the elephants having their daily baths at a river close by. Return to Kandy. Overnight Stay at the Hotel.
Day 06

Kandy > Bentota (195 KMS and approximately 04 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Bentota. Arrive & Check in to Hotel Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 07

Bentota

After Breakfast, Leisure By the Beach or By the pool on BB basis.
Day 08

Bentota > Galle > Bentota (110 KMS and approximately 02 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast, Proceed to Galle & Visit the City. Galle is the south coast’s major city, whose oldest landmark is the massive 17th century Portuguese and Dutch Fort in which the central city is contained. The journey to Galle is along the palm-fringed beaches passing Hikkaduwa with its beautiful “coral gardens” and exotic tropical fish. Visit the Dutch Fort and the city of Galle. As you walk through the streets you can see strong Dutch influences in the architecture, along with some old British residences and various mosques with Arabic touches. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 09

Bentota > Colombo (65 KMS and approximately 02 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast Proceed to Colombo. Check in to the Hotel. Visit the City of Colombo City & Shopping Tour in the evening.

Colombo – visit fort and Pettah areas and drive past the 100-year-old clock tower, the old parliament and several British built, colonial buildings. other places of interest are, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). Also visit the ceramics corporation showrooms, the ODEL unlimited dress boutique and the majestic city shopping complex.

Colombo > Airport Departure (30 KMS and approximately 1 Hour Journey)

After Breakfast proceed to Airport for the departure.
